Contact Pressure Epoxy Laminating
Compound 2004 with Curing Agent 235

DESCRIPTION

An epoxy resin system designed for room temperature laminating of contoured surfaces.

SPECIAL FEATURES

This system has a degree of thixotropy which will enable one to lay up contoured and vertical surfaces. It has a viscosity sufficiently low to set glass cloth and yet a degree of thixotropy and tack which will hold glass cloth tightly to the vertical surface of a model, preventing slippage during lay-up. For this reason it is often preferred over lower viscosity systems which are available. This system has low shrinkage characteristics which help to contribute to dimensional stability of tools in which slight bridging of cloth occurs.

MODIFICATIONS AVAILABLE

Where a longer laminate rub-out time than 2 hours is desired, Curing Agent 258 can be substituted for Curing Agent 235. This curing agent is employed at a ratio of 18 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight Compound 2004, and will require approximately twice as long to develop cured strength properties.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

No special techniques are required with this material. Refer to the section on "LAMINATING" for procedure.
