DESCRIPTION
Magnobond 56, A & B is a high strength epoxy adhesive designed for
bonding fiberglass panels to a wide variety of substrates.
SPECIAL FEATURES
1. Magnobond 56 gives extremely high bond strength whether
bonding fiberglass to fiberglass or fiberglass to wood,
concrete, metal, styrofoam, epoxy, and many more surfaces.
2. Convenient equal volume mix ratio.
3. Magnobond 56 is a proven product. It has been used for
fiberglass bonding since 1970.
4. Service range is between -40°F and +160°F.
SURFACE PREPARATION
Fiberglass and metal surfaces must be sand blasted or sanded, then all
dust washed off with solvent. Concrete should be cleaned with
alkaline cleaner or muriatic acid then thoroughly washed with fresh
clean water and allowed to dry. Surface preparation is often the most
important part of the bonding operation.
PROPERTIES
Mix Ratio: 1:1 by volume or
100 parts by weight "A" to
76 parts by weight "B"
Working Time: 1 to 2 hours at 75°F. Larger masses
or higher temperatures set faster
and lower temperatures and smaller
masses will give longer working
time.
Cure: Overnight - Set up. Full bond
strength is developed in 1 to 2 days at
75°F. Maximum chemical resistance is
developed after 7 to 10 days at room
temperature. Mild heat will greatly
accelerate the curing process. For
example, at 150°F Magnobond 56 will cure in
1 hour.
Lap Shear Strength, psi, ASTM D 1002:
Aluminum to Aluminum: 4200
Polyester Fiberglass to Polyester Fiberglass: 1000*
*This value exceeds the strength of the bonded panels.
Shelf Life: 12 months from ship date
