GENERAL PROCEDURE FOR USE
Mixed casting materials exhibit limited working time. Therefore,
collect all tools and working materials before mixing the epoxy.
Use epoxies and materials at 65-80°F. Cooler temperatures will retard
the rate of cure; warmer temperatures may result in shrinkage of the
tool.
Weigh resin and hardener carefully. Too little or too much curing
agent can affect rate of cure and final properties.
HELPFUL HINT: Insert waxed welding wires at regular intervals into the
face of the mold master before applying surface coat and tooling epoxy.
After cure, remove wires to create airways for vacuum-forming
applications.
Release Mold
1. Refer to instructions supplied with a suitable release agent
for use. These include waxes, vinyl alcohols, silicones,
polyethylenes or Mylar.
2. Coat mold completely with release agent.
Tooling Epoxy (6021, Parts A and B)
1. Weigh out resin and hardener at proper ratio.
2. Mix epoxy by hand, scraping sides and bottom of container
often and thoroughly to be sure mix is homogeneous. Mixing
should take 4-7 minutes.
3. Cast mix into the mold by pouring slowly against one side to
avoid entrapment of air. NOTE: Sometimes it is desirable to
incorporate metallic filler on the back of the tool to act as
a heat sink. If this is to be done, fill only the first 1/3 -
1/2 of the tool with unmodified epoxy. Allow the casting to
gel, then pour the filled mix on top of the set material,
using the same pouring method.
4. Allow the tool to fully cure.

TOOLING SECTION OF OUR CATALOG.
