Magnobond
6504 (liquid) and 6507 (thixotropic paste) are two-component epoxy compounds
formulated to seal electrical wire in saw cuts and embed light fixtures in
concrete and asphalt airport runways.
The systems are formulated to be flexible with sufficient elongation to
relax any stresses due to thermal and mechanical changes. The liquid system (6504) is designed to
allow the use of dry sand and provide a thermal expansion characteristic similar
to concrete. Sand, of course, will
make the system fill more voids by increasing the volume by two-thirds. NOTE: Some sands do not work
well.
Compounds
6504 and 6507 can be used in either concrete or asphalt runways. Compound 6504 A/B is a low viscosity
liquid compound designed to cure as low as 45°F, making the material a versatile
product for use in cool weather.
Compound 6507 A/B is a modified version of 6504, incorporating a
thickening or thixotropic agent to produce a smooth paste suitable for
application by trowel or spatula.
6507 will also cure at temperatures as low as 45°F.
Thoroughly
blend equal volumes of Part A and Part B until homogeneous. 6504 and 6507 cure faster in large
masses than in thin films. Pot life
will also be shorter in large masses.
6504 and 6507 should be mixed at room temperature or below in quantities
that can be used immediately. See Magnolia Technical Bulletin – Mixing, Storage and Handling of
Epoxies.
