Magnoloop II, Parts A & B
DESCRIPTION
Magnoloop Sealers are the original epoxy compounds used for
sealing traffic control loops in highway pavements. These
products have been used since the late 1960's to protect loop
wire from water, salt, gasoline, oil, cuts, abrasion and
changes in temperature.
SPECIAL FEATURES
Magnoloop Sealer produces a hard surface that withstands
vehicular abuse but has internal toughness that protects the
wire. It bonds to both asphalt and concrete and acts like an
expansion joint compound when temperature changes cause the
pavement to move. Magnoloop II does not require a third
ingredient and can be dispensed through automatic mixing
equipment directly into the saw cut.
ADDITIONAL PRODUCTS
Magnoloop is available in two other grades. Magnoloop I is
very fluid and allows the user to add dry sand to increase the
coverage. Magnoloop VI is a lower cost product than our other
sealers. It should be used where stress from freeze/thaw
cycles is not severe. Please request separate data sheets on
these items.
AVAILABLE PACKAGING
Magnoloop II is now sold in bulk containers (10 gallon or 2
gallon kits) or twin tube side-by-side cartridges. The
cartridges are snapped into an inexpensive dispensing gun, a
disposable static mixer is then attached and the Sealer
extruded directly into the saw cut.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
1. A groove is cut into the pavement using a water cooled
diamond studded saw blade.
2. Magnoloop Sealer bonds best to dry surfaces. All water
should be removed from the groove by blowing it out with
compressed air.
3. The wire is then placed into the dry groove and connected
to the computer in a junction box set below grade near the
curbing.
4. Stir each can thoroughly prior to use.
5. Measure the "A" and "B" components very carefully to be
sure they are exactly 1:1. It is important that this ratio
be maintained and especially important that excess Part B
not be used for any reason.
6. Because the "A" and "B" components are thick, they are
difficult to get thoroughly blended. This step is
extremely important for a successful loop. Generally,
three to five minutes is required. Occasionally, during
this time, the mixing should be stopped and the sides and
bottom of the bucket and the mixing blade must be scraped.
A top to bottom mixing motion is required to achieve
complete uniformity of hardness within the loop.
7. When the mix is completed, transfer it into smaller paper
cups for pouring into the wire-filled groove until pavement
grade is reached. A squeegee bent into a "V" shape will
help direct Sealer into the groove.
8. Epoxy is very sensitive to temperatures. Cool weather
causes the epoxy to be thicker and much slower to cure.
When warm, the Sealer will react very quickly.
